So I love my fitbit BUT I traded it in. I had bought the fitbit blaze and it was great but I could get the fitbit charge hr for $80.00 less and the only things I lose are the ability to choose my activity on the screen (which I wasn’t using) and reading my text messages and using the music controls on my phone (which I wasn’t using). So I returned the blaze. It was also very large and sat awkwardly on my wrist. I also found it heavy and often bumped it into things. I think the blaze is kind of “Man” sized or for people with large wrists.
I am suprised at how happy I am with my descision to return and “downgrade” my fitbit BUT I truly don’t think I was making use of all of the options and I can always upgrade if I change my mind!
So 30 days on fitbit hooked me, I love the apps and and information it gives me and extremely happy with my new fitbit charge hr.
More Posts to come on my fitbit journey!
I bought a fitbit blaze in purple. So far I am enjoying it and it is providing me with alot of motivation!
The fitbit blaze has the appearance of a watch. It automatically tracks my exercise, steps, heart rate, floors climbed, calories burned and more.
One downfall I have found and I am not sure if this because I am in Canada but the food input barcode scanner doesn’t recognize quite a few foods. I think I will need to sync with My fitness pal as its food database is much more extensive.
I also wish it was smaller. If fitbit sold a skinnier version, I would much prefer that.
The fitbit app is great it gives me all my fitness information directly on my phone. It syncs easily and I haven’t had any connectivity issues.
I haven’t delved into the fitbit community much but do have some friends whom also have fitbits and enjoy being able to see what they are doing and participate in challenges with them.
I am also using my fitbit blaze in conjuction with the aria scale. The scale measures weight and bodyfat.
So I case you were wondering, I am keeping it!
Once I have worn it for awhile longer I’ll provide another update regarding any pros or cons I’ve found that are not mentioned above.
In the afternoon we did mommy & baby yoga, T loves seeing other babies! I realised the true depth of the issues with my hips at yoga and have a doctor’s appointment to look forward to.
Today was cookie selling day at Sparks! Always good exercise, pounding the pavement pushing the cookies, all evening 🙂
Next Wednesday we will try to get up and out of the house for the neighbourhood playgroup! then it’s off to yoga again in the pm.
Tomorrow we have strollercise and walk in Mill Creek Ravine to look forward to!
I started my journey awhile back but never really stuck with it. I am on my 9th day of eating healthy. I have lost 2 kgs 🙂 I am so excited at my achievement. Even though I want to throw it all out the window and just eat cake.
My journey has been easy on some days and very difficult on others. I am learning that I must plan my meals and make sure they are filling so that I am not hungry in between meals. Making my lunches the night before so I am not rushed in the morning and opt to just buy lunch. I also must keep busy, if I have nothing to do I start to look for things to snack on.
A big key to healthy snacking for me is having healthy veggies available. Cut up carrots and celery or fresh fruit, ready to go in the fridge or in my lunch bag at work means me winning my battle with staying on track during the day.
The tool I am using for all of this is My Fitness Pal. It’s the first site I have found that I have not be frustrated with the food tracking. This site makes it uber easy to track your food. My favorite option is the scanner on the mobile app. Point and click and your food is entered!
Another tool I am contemplating is Body Media it integrates with My Fitness Pal and tracks the calories you burn each day. It has a built-in heart rate monitor and tracks your sleep! If anyone has a Body Media and would like to share their experience, I would love to hear it!
My meals for this week are planned and groceries are bought, my gym bag is packed! So I have already set myself up to win this week.
I have 21kgs to go! I can do this!
Today marks the first day of my weightless journey. It’s time to be honest and upfront with myself about my weight.
I want to lose 23kgs and need to lose at least 15kgs. Why?
Because I want to be healthier. I want to be in shape.
Because I need to get my food under control, including my food intolerances.
I am using myfitnesspal because it’s an easy tool and one I’ve used the before, the ease in usage is a big selling point for me. Often food and fitness trackers require a lot of effort and to be honest if it’s difficult or takes time, I’ll drop it like a hot potato.
So here goes, I’ll keep you updated as the weeks go by and I’ll be brutally honest about my struggles and triumphs.
P.S. after seeing fit bit on myfitnesspal I am more than tempted to buy it . I may need to make it my reward for doing well!
Today I woke up late. Showered, dressed and ate breakfast.
Then we ventured downtown. We decided to walk we stopped and dropped our books off at the library and then we were off to the farmers market!!! I love the famers’ market and there was a wedding party getting there pictures done. We stopped in the shop called Carbon – Environmental Boutique which is on the same street as the market. I am pretty sure K and myself fell instantly in love!! This store has everything I have ever wanted….okay maybe that goes a bit too far but it really does have good quality eco friendly products….which I love!
We stopped for lunch and I have a green onion cake and K had a pretzel and lemonade! We stopped in at the library again (as we hadn’t wanted to carry books around all afternoon) and then we made our way home in the rain but it was nice and refreshing!!!
Later in the evening I ventured out to see the movie Bad Teacher with a friend. I decided to take the bus as my feet were tired of walking and I didn’t want to get caught in the rain and have to sit through a movie while soaked. I found the movie to be funny and enjoyed the awesome company I had at the theatre.
Hope you all enjoyed reading about my Saturday!
Okay so I haven’t actually used the product yet, but I bought it and it’s in my home. So I sit here admiring the package, but alas I washed my hair this morning. So I will have to wait. The product is abba – pure performance hair care. I bought the Pure Curl Shampoo. It has lemongrass and orange peel oil in it and it smells nice like lemongrass.
Anyways my family is gone for the evening – well J for the weekend and so I am alone. Also my car is broken again so I have no car this weekend. Well, I have a car but it is standard shift so I can attempt to teach myself to drive…….which I will probably attempt tomorrow and Sunday, but for the most part I shall walk and bike every where (mainly because I am scared of hills and how do I get out of my neighbourhood in the rivervalley without going up hills 😦 ).
Tomorrow I plan to go the library (walk) and the movies (walk). I’m going to see Bad Teacher, I’ll let you know how it is. Maybe I’ll go to work out (ride J’s bike). Wow I would be in such good shape if I didn’t have a car. But for tonight I plan to veg-out and do nothing because of the dark clouds, the rain approaching and the fact that I am tired.
P.S. my herb garden is doing great!!!
I haven’t posted in forever and so much has happened, for one thing I am a year older!
I’ve been quite sick lately, it’s like an onslaught of sick. I am hoping to be feeling better in the next couple of days (fingers crossed) as I am soooo tired of being sick. This time has given me the chance to catch up on all my shows and now I am going bit stir crazy. It also sucks because the weather is so nice out now!
We booked our tickets to Curacao, we leave July 23!!!! That’s 42 days away not that anyone is counting.
K’s gr.6 graduation is this week (although school doesn’t end till later in June) and so we will be on a mission to find a dress! K also leaves for summer camp at ACCA youth camp July 2nd, something she is quite excited about as she had a blast last year!
I joined a soccer team and am loving it. Why I ever stopped playing soccer is beyond me and my current goal is to play throughout the year, both indoor and outdoor!
June seems to be flying by……Summer is always too short.
On Thursday, I played soccer for the first time in 12 years. It was a blast! I had a ton of fun even if we did lose 5-4. I went all out and knew at the game I had done some damage to my muscles but didn’t care because of all the fun!! I even went and worked out late Friday night, thinking I should let this slow me down. Fast forward to Saturday, wake up in the morning with limited mobility in my legs. Fast Forward to completing 17kms of a highway clean-up and my legs no longer know what mobility is.
My daughter who recently joined TREX an extra ops group with Girl Guides, had a highway clean up project this weekend. We cleaned and cleaned and cleaned, all 17kms, with approx. 16 ppl. The girls had alot of fun but were very tired by the end of it.
So as a treat after all our hard work, we went out for dinner with the family as we were all to beat to even think about cooking dinner. We went to a new restaurant that we had never been to before called Mini Mango. The food was to die for and they had hands down the best spring rolls I have ever had in my entire life and I have had ALOT of spring rolls. I had the Pho Chay (Vietnamese vegetarian noodle soup), J had Tom Kha See Fuut (Thai coconut seafood soup) and K had the 5 meat (chicken, beef, pork, shrimp and spring rolls) combo bowl w/ coconut rice. Then we all shared that most heavenly dessert – deep fried banana spring rolls in coconut sauce.
All in all it was a wonderful day and tonight we will all get some greatly deserved rest. My rest will consist of a cup of tea and the continued reading of Nomad by Ayaan Hirsi Ali.
Tonight I made fried rice for dinner. I added carrots, corn, green beans, purple cabbage, shallots and peas. Seasoned w/ braggs, ginger, black pepper and garlic. I tastes amazing and has No Nightshades 🙂
I have been feeling kinda down because of my wrist. I can’t work out. I definitely need to do more running/walking in the neighbourhood. So I keep my activity levels up.
I found two amazing websites in the last two days.
One for curly hair http://www.naturallycurly.com/ , Naturally Curly has great tips and tricks on how to keep your curly hair looking it’s best. There are also forums where you can talk to other curlies and trade curl secrets!
And the other for people with food allergies http://www.cookingallergyfree.com/, it is filled with great recipes and what makes it so great is you put in your food allergies at the beginning and it only shows you recipes that do not have your allergies. This site has a wealth of information and has helped me to realise no nightshades is not so bad once you get used to cooking with all the other wonderful foods available to you.
On another note I have given up on Live Clean’s Purple Jewel Conditioner. It just doesn’t do the trick. It is a horrible detangler. When I use it clumps of my hair come out from the tangles, so it is not detangling. So for me, Purple Jewel Conditioner is a no go. The shampoo is okay though but definitely not may favorite. I had hopes for this product but am afraid it just doesn’t cut it for curly hair. Also everyone with straight hair out there don’t let this discourage you from trying some of the other products in their line. I personally like their Exotic Nectar – Argan Oil and Shine Cream.
