Nightshades are a group of vegetables that include Peppers (Hot and Sweet), Potato, Tomato, Eggplant, Aubergine.
This is the first food group I chose to introduce as my first food group in my eliminate diet process.
I have found out these foods make me horribly ill. Digestion issues, dizziness, nausea, trouble focusing, headaches and mood swings.
I will continue to add foods to my diet and possibly come back to nightshades at the end and introduce them one at a time again. To ensure that I have not made a mistake or something else was bothering me.
Hot peppers and the many spices they are in are probably my most favorite foods, so today is a very sad day.
But on the upside I found someone like me who has a nightshade allergy! http://reluctantveggie.com/about
I bought a fish, his name is Sashimi he sits on my desk at work 🙂
I finished a 30 day challenge at Curves! I worked out 3 times a week for 30 days!
I’m slowing winding up all my volunteer activities! May is my last month to get all my volunteer work in check! I will not volunteer a million hours after this. I am taking the summer off and going to try something new in September. I am going to volunteer w/ Girl Guides. K is a girl guide and she is moving to pathfinders next year and has just joined an awesome group called TREX. The adventure-based program includes camping, canoeing and hiking. K has the opportunity to go to Utah next spring break with her group!
Elimination diet is on day 18! I’m doing it! Hopefully by the end of this we will get to the bottom of my digestive issues.
I’ve started using Live Clean purple jewel. I’ll let everyone know how it works out!
I participated in Earth Hour and did my part to make the world a better place! Remember Earth Hour can be fun. Ever tried scrabble by candle light or a game with the kids in the dark or go for an evening walk!
I signed up for boot camp and started today. I am dead tired but feel good and will not be able to make it up the stairs tomorrow at work but I’m on my way to a fitter, healthier ME! I’m excited for April and everything it will bring!
I have discovered that I do not like hemp seed oil. I never knew this until I started the elimination diet which requires me to have 2 tablespoons of the stuff daily. I realise it’s good for me, with all the essential fatty acids in it, in fact “they” say it’s better than flaxseed oil, but the taste is not really my favorite. I guess I’ll get used to it. It is also in VEGA which I drink occasionally and tried to drink on a regular basis, but absolutely hate the taste of. I have now realised this taste is hemp seed oil but on a worse scale (how they managed to do that is beyond me). This all shouldn’t suprise me considering I tried the hemp milk route once as it so much better for you that soy milk. I think it’s yuck and made J drink it since he didn’t find it so bad. Anyways it’s Day 2 I’m on track and it’s Sunday. Another day to sit back and relax (and get housework done)
Also I have found a resturant in Montreal, that I would love to go to it’s called Crudessence. Owned by Georges Laraque Deputy Leader of the Canadian Green Party!
I have decided not to test Macadamia Natural Oil as my next product as the company has not answered my emails in regards to the ingredients in their products. So, the next product line I will highlight is Live Clean. I am going to to try the Purple Jewel (wave enhancer) product first and then try the Argan Oil product.
Last time I blogged I was going to see Black Swan. I saw it and I loved it!!! I recommend it highly, probably one of my favorite movies!
I haven’t kept up with recipes from my organic box as my life has been crazy busy but I will try to continue. I like making new recipes and finding new ways to make food delicious! Tonight I used the Spaghetti Squash, steamed in the oven with olive oil, Italian herbs, salt and pepper. It was great!
At Curves currently I am doing a 30 challenge, so I have to work out at least 3 times a week for 30 days. So far so good. I am determined to be successful.
My health issues, I am going to try to deal with some of my health problems and to just in general be a healthier me! I am starting an elimination diet to determine what foods are triggers for me. So for the first 4 weeks I will be quite a restrictive diet, I will mainly be eating whole/clean foods. Gradually I will reintroduce foods and see if I have intolerances to certain foods.
Lots of updates. I’m enjoying my journey. I am also excited to be starting new journeys and discoveries in my life!
